BASKETBALL (5th – 8th grade girls and boys)
Season: Mid September – Mid October
Try-outs: Begins the second day of school unless otherwise posted.
Equipment needed: Basketball shoes
Girls Practice: Immediately after school about 2 hours, 4-5 days a week, at coach’s discretion. School basketball courts.
Boys Practice: Immediately after school about 2 hours, 4-5 days a week, at coach’s discretion. School basketball courts.
Games: Begin first week of September. Home games at Holy Spirit gym. Girls at 4:30pm or 6/6:30pm. Boys 5:30pm or 7/7:30pm.
VOLLEYBALL (5th – 8th grade girls only)
Season: End November – Mid January
Try-outs: Last week October/First week of November
Equipment needed: Knee pads, socks and black compression shorts (do not purchase until coach advises)
Practice: Immediately after school, about 2 hours, 4-5 days a week, at coach’s discretion. BT Volleyball court.
Games: Begin last week of November Start at 4:00pm. Home games played at Holy Spirit gym.
VARSITY SOCCER (5th – 8th grade co-ed)
Season: End November – End January
Try-outs: Last week October/First week of November.
Equipment needed: Soccer cleats, shin guards, socks (do not purchase socks until coach advises)
Practice: Immediately after school about 2 hours, 4-5 days a week, at coach’s discretion. BT soccer field.
Games: Begin last week of November. About 4:00pm. Home games played at BT fields.
SOFTBALL (5th – 8th grade girls and boys)
Season: End February – Mid April
Tryouts: Beginning of February
Equipment needed: Softball cleats and uniform socks (do not purchase socks until coach advises)
Practice: Immediately after school about 2 hours, 4-5 days a week, at coach’s discretion. BT softball field.
Games: Begin last week of February. Girls 3:30pm, Boys 5:00pm. Home games at our field.
CROSS COUNTRY (4th – 8th grade boys and girls)
Season: Mid August-Late October
Try-outs: First week of school (there are no cuts so long as students show up to practice and have the appropriate clothing, running sneakers, and a water bottle)
Equipment needed: Running shoes (not basic sneakers) and a water bottle
Practice: Immediately after school, 5 days/week, at coach’s discretion.
Meets: Usually 4pm at various locations around Jacksonville.
Track and Field (5th-8th grade boys and girls)
Season: Mid January- Mid April
Try-outs: Second week of January (there are no cuts so long as students show up to practice and have the appropriate clothing, running sneakers and a water bottle)
Equipment needed: Running shoes (not basic sneakers) and water bottle
Practice: Immediately after school, 3-5 days/week, at coach’s discretion
Meets: Usually 4pm at various locations around Jacksonville

REQUIREMENTS
Students must be in grades 5 – 8 in order to participate in BT Athletics and must be academically eligible. Cross Country is open to 4th – 8th grade. Athletic participation (forms found on the school web-site) must be turned in prior to try-outs. Athletic physicals must be dated after June 1st of the participating school year. They must be completed and signed by a physician and notarized.
All families who participate on a sports team are required to volunteer in the concession stand (softball and soccer) or sell tickets (basketball and volleyball) at least once at a home game during the sport season.
Each sport will have a fundraiser. Each family must participate in the fundraiser designated to their sport.
COSTS
There is a non-refundable athletic fee per player and per sport. There is also a refundable uniform deposit, which will be returned if the uniform is returned in good condition. This may be kept on file in the office for the entire school year for all sports played. There may be additional specific uniform costs for each sport.
