Dear Families,

I am excited about the opportunity to work with the middle school students during the Media Research classes for the 2019-2020 school year.   We will be incorporating the use of iPads, educational apps and exceptional coding resources to help students learn, express their creativity and bolster their critical thinking skills.

Mrs. Satkoff, the Media Specialist, and I work closely with the classroom teachers to incorporate technology into the curriculum. The students’ grades for the Media Research classes reflect media and technology as a combined grade. During the third and fourth quarters, we will continue working on developing responsible digital citizenship skills, touch typing skills, word processing, spreadsheets and coding.

Please help your student(s) remember the C-O-D-E that will lead them to success in class.

C – Come to class prepared!  Bring your 100% charged iPad and any assignments that are due.

O – Observe – Be observant of your classmates, the classroom expectations and the learning environment.  I will be using a “Shout Out” system that students can nominate fellow students for kind, respectful actions.  Each quarter, students in each middle school class will receive a “Shout Out” from fellow students for kind and thoughtful acts!

D – Demonstrate Respect – speaking with teachers and fellow students in a respectful manner means not talking or socializing while the teacher or a fellow student is talking. Demonstrating respect also means actively listening to instruction and focusing on learning.

E – Excellent behavior – starts with an excellent attitude!  Arriving on time to class, focusing on the learning opportunities and contributing on-topic responses to class discussions.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.  God bless you,

Mrs. Slater

Bienvenidos! Welcome!

Speaking other languages gives ONLY benefits, including the skill to communicate with more people, to understand the enriching aspects of other societies, and to stay competitive in a world of globalization.

In order to enhance our foreign language program, this school year (2019-2020) we will continue with Middle School students mid-term and final exams for Spanish.

I highly recommend for all the students to practice at home and refresh vocabulary the Duolingo app (free).

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me at:

Coach McGuire:

Welcome back to what I hope is an exciting year in PE and Health!  Please read through the following information to make sure you are in the know of all things super important in my class:

  1. All students will participate in an NFL Challenge throughout the first half of the year. Please be sure to ask them about this fun event!
  2. Lessons will focus on (by quarter) basketball, soccer/volleyball, softball, and hockey. All students will engage in age-appropriate lessons and games to learn the skills and rules to safely and successfully play each sport.
  3. Unless a physician excuse note is provided to the office, students must dress for each and every PE class. Failure to do so will result in a loss of 5 points towards their quarter grade.
  4. No jewelry is to be worn during PE class, with the exception of watches and post earrings. All students not in compliance will be given a dress code violation.
  5. Students should bring a LABELED WATER BOTTLE to ALL CLASSES!

I am in the planning stages of our 5th annual Health Awareness Week and am in need of your help!  If you are interested in taking a more active role in this highly anticipated event, please reach out to me.

I encourage you to be active with your family!

Welcome to the 2019/2020 school year!

I am excited to serve the Blessed Trinity Catholic School community as Media/Research Specialist.  During their time with me students will not only become enthusiastic readers but also critical thinkers, skilled researchers, and knowledgeable users of technology.  We will integrate our Catholic faith by being ethical users of information both in text and digital resources.

We support faculty and students through rewarding the Accelerated Reader program, Battle of the Books, and the annual Book Fair.

Please fee free to contact me with questions or concerns.

Welcome back B.T.C.S families and students!

As we return for a new and promising 2019-2020 school year, art created in the art room will share exciting and dynamic work from our students. We will experiment with various art mediums, genres, artist studies, culture, and time periods to influence our creativity, while building our students knowledge and understanding of Elements and Principles of Art.

Our schools main lobby to the right of the office shares a year round art exhibit of framed art work created by our students.  This art work is rotated quarterly and never disappoints!  Additional class art is displayed in the main hallway by the art room so please be sure to visit and enjoy our students’ work there as well!

Our technology lab has a mural being created by some of our talented 8th grade students.  It will be completed in the next few weeks of school.  We are very proud and excited for the completion of this school mural and will share more news later.

I look forward to working with your child/children this year !

20% – of their grade is based on their participation in class, following class rules, procedures, talking levels, using time wisely, and not socializing.  This is a weekly grade.

Service hours are available to middle school students, every Monday after school from 3:15pm.- 4:15pm.  Please see me or contact me if you are interested.
